Junior Product Developer, publishing + gifting

  • London / Hybrid
  • £30,000 – £37,000

We’re hiring a Junior Product Developer to join a high-quality, brand-led product team working across licensed publishing, games and merchandise for a globally recognised entertainment IP.

This is a junior–mid level role with real responsibility and exposure, ideal for someone early in their product development career who loves detail, storytelling, and beautifully made products.

You’ll support the Product Development team across a wide range of licensed products, with a particular focus on:

  • Licensed children’s publishing (editorial and copy review)
  • Board games and trading cards
  • Merchandise and experiential products

The role is heavily focused on review, approval and brand guardianship, ensuring everything that goes out into the world is accurate, consistent and of the highest quality.

You won’t be briefing designers or factories directly, but you will have real influence, working closely with global partners and contributing creative feedback throughout the development process.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Reviewing and approving editorial content across 20+ licensed children’s titles
  • Checking copy for accuracy, consistency, tone and brand alignment (detail is critical)
  • Reviewing concepts, rules and copy for board games and trading cards
  • Providing thoughtful creative feedback to raise product quality
  • Reviewing artwork against brand guidelines, from flat artwork to finished products
  • Supporting product approvals through online partner systems
  • Attending creative review meetings with external partners
  • Managing samples, archives, presentations and internal documentation
  • Spotting trends and contributing ideas for future product opportunities

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in product development, licensing, publishing, toys, gifting, games or entertainment
  • Strong written skills and confidence reviewing copy
  • Excellent attention to detail, errors do not slip past you
  • Organised, proactive and comfortable managing multiple approvals at once
  • Confident communicator who can push back diplomatically when needed
  • Creative, curious and quality-driven
  • An interest in games, collectables or storytelling-led products is a big plus
  • Experience in board games is helpful but not essential, enthusiasm and good judgement matter more

This role is perfect for someone who:

  • Loves detail, quality and getting things right
  • Enjoys reviewing copy, spotting inconsistencies and improving editorial standards
  • Cares deeply about brand integrity and storytelling
  • Likes working across multiple product categories rather than specialising too narrowly
  • Enjoys games (especially board games or trading cards) and understands what makes them fun
  • Wants strong work/life balance in a creative, non-sales-driven environment

Diversity & Inclusion: ILMJ values diversity, equality, and inclusion and encourages applicants from all backgrounds and identities.
