Junior Product Developer (REF 1300)

We are looking for a creative and commercial individual with a love of product to join a leading gift brand as their Junior Product Developer.
This exciting role involves working closely with international vendors, leading retailers, and internal teams from pitch to production, to conceive and develop trend-led, innovate products for leading retailers worldwide. The successful applicant will be an ‘ideas’ person who is highly organised, proactive, thrives in a fast-paced creative role, and is a great team player.
Key responsibilities:
- Identifying key trends / gaps in the market for new product development opportunities
- Generating new product ideas based on market research and comp shops
- Managing the product from concept through to sample sign off, handing over to production once this process is complete
- Create comprehensive briefs for design and content teams
- Helping to identify product improvements and customer line lists alongside Account Managers
- Work with Production & PD Manager to select best factories by product
- Supporting on critical path management throughout the production stages
- Briefing factories clearly with product specification, generating costs comparisons based on this and negotiating pricing
- Creating and reviewing product specifications to be sent to the factory, proof-checking artwork and ensuring the contents, product imagery, barcodes, product codes and batch codes are all correct
- Ensuring all pre-production and production samples are organised and signed off internally and externally
- Support sustainability efforts, understand the supplier capabilities and the customer’s current requirements
- Comp shopping on a regular basis to check own product in-store and keep an eye on the competition
Skills and experience required:
- 3+ years’ experience in product development within a creative product business
- Experience developing commercial products with major retailers a big plus
- Experience developing directly with overseas factories
- Strong understanding of costs, production, and delivery requirements
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Skilled at working across multiple projects simultaneously and with a high SKU count
- Highly creative, proactive, and friendly, with passion for product & retail
