We’re working with a highly successful, design-led consumer goods brand supplying major UK and international retailers. Known for innovative and sustainably focused products, the business continues to expand into new categories and global markets.

They are now looking for a Product Compliance Technologist to play a key role in ensuring their products meet global regulatory requirements, retailer standards and sustainability commitments.

This role works closely with Product Development, Production and international suppliers to oversee product testing, compliance documentation and regulatory processes across a diverse product range.

The role:

Product Testing & Compliance

  • Manage the product testing process, ensuring products meet relevant UK, EU and international regulatory standards.
  • Work with Product Development teams to identify appropriate testing requirements for new products and categories.
  • Coordinate testing with approved laboratories and global suppliers, ensuring protocols are accurate and compliant.
  • Review and approve testing documentation and ensure technical files are maintained and up to date.
  • Manage the testing budget and identify cost-effective solutions while maintaining robust compliance standards.
  • Support internal product testing where required.

Risk Management & Product Quality

  • Conduct technical reviews of product risk assessments for new product categories.
  • Review product labelling, warnings and back-of-pack information to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Work with Product Development and Production teams to investigate product complaints and identify root causes.
  • Support resolution of product quality or compliance issues with suppliers and customers where required.

Compliance & Regulatory Management

  • Maintain clear and accurate technical files and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations including areas such as product safety, packaging regulations and environmental requirements.
  • Support compliance reporting requirements including areas such as packaging waste and environmental regulations.
  • Manage certification processes including FSC and support annual audits.

Supplier & Factory Compliance

  • Support oversight of factory ethical and technical audit programmes in collaboration with international sourcing teams.
  • Review audit findings and corrective action plans with suppliers to drive continuous improvement.

Regulatory Updates & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Monitor regulatory changes affecting consumer products and communicate updates internally.
  • Share regulatory insights with internal teams to ensure products remain compliant as legislation evolves.
  • Act as a technical contact for retailer compliance teams and support responses to customer technical queries.
  • Assist with customer audits and retailer compliance reviews where required.
  • Sustainability & Environmental Compliance
  • Support sustainability initiatives across the product and supply chain.
  • Assist with certification requirements and sustainability reporting.
  • Ensure environmental and sustainability claims are supported by appropriate evidence and documentation.
  • Monitor emerging environmental legislation and industry best practice.

What we’re looking for:

Experience

  • 5 years’ experience in a product compliance, technical or quality assurance role.
  • Experience within consumer goods, ideally working with international sourcing or supply chains.
  • Experience working with major UK or international retailers and their compliance requirements.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of product testing and compliance across consumer product categories, ideally within homewares and lifestyle product.
  • Knowledge of UK, EU and US product regulations affecting consumer goods.
  • Experience managing technical documentation and compliance records.
  • Understanding of sustainability and environmental compliance frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams, suppliers and testing partners.
