Product Developer, beauty

A growing beauty company, based in Hertfordshire, is looking for a Product Developer / Production Manager to lead manage range development from concept through to production, working closely with factories, suppliers and compliance to bring products to market on time and to spec. This growing brand supplies major retailers across the UK and Europe and continues to go from strength to strength.

What you’ll do:

  • Obtain and negotiate product costs with factories to secure the best possible prices.
  • Identify product and packaging solutions that meet customer needs and target cost requirements.
  • Work with factories to develop products from initial concept visuals through to first samples.
  • Liaise with suppliers and compliance teams to ensure products meet  and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate, inspect and approve samples, components and cutter guides.
  • Complete artwork briefs from scratch, including all copy, compliance and product information.
  • Review and approve final artwork against the brief before submission to factories.
  • Manage factory relationships, ensuring all required information is provided in full and on time.
  • Manage critical paths and requested timelines to ensure business and customer deadlines are met.
  • Keep abreast of current trends across beauty and gifting, contributing to new product development ideas.

What we’re looking for:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience working in buying / product development.
  • Experience working within beauty or cosmetics.
  • Confident negotiating with factories on cost, quality and lead times.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects and critical paths at once.
  • A keen eye for detail, particularly across artwork, compliance and product specification.
  • A genuine interest in beauty trends, with ideas to bring to new product development.
